Infostructures

I worked with S910 infostructure.

From my understanding infostructures are very similar to database tables.But they are mainly used to transfer data to BW system.

The transaction to display infostructures are MC23.For changing infostructures MC25 is the transaction.Infostructures are associated with update group.Here we can add fields we want to and configure the formulas and requirements.Then a SAP standard program will be automatically generated taking into account the conditions.

S910 infostructure is for reason codes.Reason codes are the reasons of rejection in the sales order.There was a lot of data which had to be transferred from SAP to BW system.So I was asked to suggest a way because data keeps increasing with time.So i told that we can have creation date as the a range so that records can be downloaded in intervals.But the problem was that changed records were not getting updated and suppose record gets changed the earlier created record stays in BW system.

So in MC25 a new field called change date was created.This helps in traspoting changed records also.So whenver reson codes are created in the trsaction for sales order(va01) the entry is created in S910 infostructure.
